Bilingual VBS 2007 at John Knox P.C.

Forty seven children took part in the bilingual/bicultural Vacation Bible School at John Knox Presbyterian Church in July. The theme was "Living Water"! The children had a great time exploring the ways God uses water throughout the Bible to teach us about obedience, repentance, trust, a new life in Christ and our faith. Living Water was truly gushing and flowing through the halls of the church all week long.

It was clear that that the Holy Spirit was alive and well as participants learned about God through song, water balloons, butterfly puppets, blue ice cream and the laughter of children. The curriculum was written in partnership with people from churches in Whitewater Valley Presbytery and Northern Quintana Roo Presbytery in Mexico. This curriculum also was used in 11 partner churches in Mexico as well. John Knox Presbyterian Church hosted 6 people from Northern Quintana Roo Presbytery. They helped teach and lead the bilingual/bicultural VBS and stayed in members' homes throughout their visit.

Living Water/Agua Viva

Whitewater Valley Presbytery's (WVP) outreach to the Hispanic community in Indiana is directly connected to our partnership with Northern Quintana Roo Presbytery (NQR). The documents which shape the partnership state that as WVP supports NQR's efforts to start churches in Mexico, so will NQR help WVP's efforts to minister to our Hispanic neighbors. This bilingual curriculum is written jointly by members of both partnership presbyteries for use in NQR and WVP. John Knox Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, hosts one of the presbytery's bilingual VBS's using this material.

A second bilingual VBS takes place in Fort Wayne, under the leadership of Rev. Leonel Pech, who writes original curriculum for the week.

We request churches outside of Whitewater Valley Presbytery who are interested in using the WVP/NQR bilingual material to email Felipe Martinez. For more information about the Fort Wayne curriculum, contact Rev. Leonel Pech.
